New: the Espace Découverte Méa

Large covered carpet

Winter 2023-2024 saw the launch of the new Pontillas gondola in the Villeneuve area: after an 8-minute ride, skiers now arrive at the Méa area at an altitude of 2,255 meters.

A 1.9-hectare beginner zone has been developed, featuring a large 150-meter long covered magic carpet, which will open this winter. It allows beginner skiers to easily and safely ascend the gentle slope of the Méa plateau. This covered carpet offers several advantages:

• It protects skiers from bad weather and cold.
• It facilitates access to the green and blue slopes of the Méa plateau.

• It supports the progression of beginner skiers, who can practice without getting tired.

• It increases the transport capacity of the ski area by reducing waiting lines.

In line with its commitments, the ski area has chosen a French supplier: Ficalp company.

As part of the ongoing development of this beginner area, the installation of a 450-meter long drag lift is planned for winter 2025/2026.

The development of this new beginner zone at altitude is part of a climate change adaptation strategy, ensuring good learning conditions for skiing in the years to come while reducing the need for artificial snow.
